JAMES FREDRICK “JIM” PRENTICE , OF MILO PASSED AWAY DECEMBER 21, 2000 AT HIGH RIVER HOSPITAL.

JIM WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 27, 1920 AT BASSANO, ALBERTA TO GEORGE AND FREDA (nee; ROSEEN) PRENTICE. HE WAS RAISED AND LIVED ALL OF HIS LIFE IN THE MAJORVILLE AREA; HE ATTENDED SCHOOL AT LIBERTY AND MILO. HOME TO JIM WAS ALWAYS THE HOUSE ON THE HOME QUARTER. AT THE AGE OF NINETEEN HIS FATHER PASSED AWAY AND JIM TOOK OVER THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF RUNNING THE FAMILY FARM.

JIM ENJOYED SPORTS OF ALL KINDS, AND TOOK AN ACTIVE PART IN CURLING, BASEBALL AND HIS SPECIAL INTEREST; CHUCKWAGON RACING, MANY OF HIS FAVOURITE MEMORIES, FRIENDS AND STORIES STEM FROM HIS INVOLVEMENT AS A JUDGE AND AVID SUPPORTER OF WAGON RACING.

HE MARRIED BRENDA HOLLADAY IN 1961; THEY RAISED A FAMILY OF FOUR CHILDREN. IN THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS HE HAS BEEN FARMING WITH HIS SON KEN. HE LIKED TO SPENT HIS TIME DREAMING UP AND COMPLETING INNOVATIVE USEFUL PROJECTS, RELAXING WITH A BOOK OR CROSSWORD PUZZLE AND A BOTTLE OF “PIL”. HE LOVED QUIET TIMES WITH HIS GRANDCHILDREN, BUILDING “DUPLO” TOWERS, SLEEPY CUDDLES, THE HELP THEY GAVE WITH THE CROSSWORD PUZZLES, AND THEIR WONDERFUL HAND MADE GIFTS.

JIM IS SURVIVED AND MISSED BY HIS WIFE OF 39 1/2 YEARS, BRENDA OF MILO, A DAUGHTER CYNTHIA PRENTICE OF JASPER, THREE SONS KEN (ANN) OF MILO, JIM (ALANNA) OF VULCAN, RICK OF CALGARY, FOUR GRANDCHILDREN WREN, THOMAS, SARA AND CODY, TWO SISTERS PHYLLIS HUNTER OF VULCAN, HELEN THOMPSON OF MILO, FIVE NIECES ELLEN, JANICE, WENDY, KATHY AND MELISSA AND A NEPHEW RON.

JIM WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS PARENTS GEORGE AND FREDA (nee; ROSEEN), A BROTHER ALAN “ BOB”, TWO BROTHERS-IN-LAW JACK HUNTER AND HALDOR THOMPSON AND A NIECE CAROL ANN SILVERMAN.

AT JIM’S REQUEST NO FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD. A PRIVATE FAMILY GATHERING TOOK PLACE DECEMBER 30, 2000. JIM WAS CREMATED AND HONOURING HIS WISHES, IN THE SPRING HIS ASHES WILL BE SCATTERED ON THE HOME QUARTER INTO A SOUTH-EAST WIND (HE ALWAYS SAID A SOUTH-EAST WIND WOULD BRING RAIN).

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, TRIBUTES IN JIM’S MEMORY COULD BE MADE TO EITHER THE ALBERTA CANCER FOUNDATION 1331- 29 ST. N.W. CALGARY T2N 4N2 OR THE VULCAN & DISTRICT AMBULANCE SERVICE BOX 299 VULCAN, TOL 2BO.
