GEORGE LEVERN “BUSTER” ARMSTRONG FORMERLY OF VULCAN PASSED AWAY JULY 13, 2000 AT VICTORIA, B.C. AT THE AGE OF 80 YEARS.

BUSTER WAS BORN JANUARY 20, 1920 AT VULCAN, ALBERTA TO GEORGE AND MABEL (nee:FERNLEY). HIS MOTHER PASSED AWAY WHEN HE WAS TWO AND A HALF YEARS OLD. BUSTER ATTENDED SUNNY LAKE SCHOOL WITH HIS SISTER ADELINE WHO LOOKED AFTER CLEANING AND BUSTER’S JOB WOULD BE CHOP WOOD AND LIGHT THE STOVE TO WARM UP THE SCHOOL FOR CLASSES.

HIS FATHER SUFFERED A STROKE WHEN BUSTER WAS FOURTEEN SO HE TOOK ON RESPONSIBILITY AT AN EARLY AGE AS WELL AS TAKING OVER THE FARM WORK, USING A HART PARR TRACTOR. BUSTER MARRIED DONNA MAE MILLER IN CALGARY IN 1946 AND TOGETHER THEY CONTINUED FARMING AND LATER, WORKED WITH HIS BROTHER-IN-LAW GEORGE SEAMAN, PAINT AND WALL PAPERING. BUSTER AND DONNA MOVED TO CALGARY IN 1969. THEN IN 1975 THEY MOVED TO VICTORIA, WHERE THEY MANAGED A COUPLE APARTMENT BUILDINGS, PURCHASED A BOAT AND SPENT EVERY FREE DAY FISHING LEAVING EARLY IN THE MORNING AND RETURNING IN THE EVENING. BUSTER SUFFERED A STROKE IN 1990 AND DONNA CARED FOR HIM AT HOME UNTIL THIS PAST YEAR, WHEN HE ENTERED THE NURSING HOME.

BUSTER WAS ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITIES WHERE HE LIVED, HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE B.P.O. ELKS IN VICTORIA AND VULCAN, THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION. IN HIS YOUNGER YEARS HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE VULCAN AND CALGARY CURLING CLUBS AND THE VULCAN AND DISTRICT GOLF CLUB.

BELOVED HUSBAND OF DONNA , LOVING FATHER OF LORNA ARMSTRONG, GRAND FATHER OF WILLIAM “BILL” AND BRONWYN ARMSTRONG, A GREAT GRANDSON LUKE ALL OF VICTORIA, B.C. A SISTER ADELINE SEAMAN OF VULCAN, TWO SISTERS-IN-LAW MARGUERITE WHITEHEAD OF CLARESHOLM, BETTY WEISS OF VANCOUVER, A BROTHER-IN-LAW RON MILLER OF KELOWNA, NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

BUSTER WAS PRECESSED BY HIS MOTHER MABEL IN 1923, FATHER GEORGE IN 1939, SON RICK IN 1973, BROTHER-IN-LAW GEORGE SEAMAN IN 1980.

A REFLECTION OF LIFE SERVICE AT THE VULCAN ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION HALL WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY AUGUST 16, 2000 AT 2 P.M. WITH REV. DOUG BARRIE OFFICIATING.

INURNMENT THE FOLLOWING DAY AT MOUNTAIN VIEW MEMORIAL GARDENS (17TH AVE. AT GARDEN ROAD, CALGARY).
