Allan Ross Walker of Vulcan, AB passed away peacefully April 13, 2014 in the Vulcan Health Center at the age of 88.
Allan was born March 3, 1926 in Vulcan to Ross and Gail Walker. He grew up close to Reid Hill, attended grade school there and high school in Vulcan. Allan attended the University of Alberta graduating a civil engineer. Allan came back to the farm after school till 1955, when he went to work for M.W. Kellogg as an engineer, he built numerous gas refineries around North America. Allan met Myrtle Shaver and they were married in 1959. They moved back to Vulcan to farm in 1965. Their daughter Kelly was born in 1966.
Allan was involved in the community through Masonic Masons, Shriners, Elks and the Legion. He also played golf, pool, flew model airplanes and was a life member of the curling club.
Allan was predeceased by his parents Ross and Gail, brother Ralph and sister-in-law Shirley. Allan is survived by his wife Myrtle, daughter Kelly, son-in-law Gordon Nelson and grand children Kurt and Morgan, brother Donald Guy (Pat), sister-in-law Diane, sister and brother-in-laws Art and Bea Friesen, Wayne and Kathy Shaver, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at the Vulcan United Church on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 3 pm, Sue MacDonald, D.M. officiating. Inurnment Vulcan Cemetery Columbarium at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Vulcan County Health and Wellness Foundation, Box 28, Vulcan, AB, T0L 2B0.

To Allan”s Family…My thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. I considered Allan a great friend and spent many hours playing golf and pool with him. Also fond memories of working with him on the golf course and building the curling rink as well as other projects that was in our community.
