Earl – Charles Victor
February 26, 1914 – January 20, 2014
Charles ‘Victor’ Earl passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on January 20, 2014.
Victor was born near Erskine, AB and was the first child of Joseph Valentine and Myrtle Victoria Earl. After Vic’s father passed away in 1918, Myrtle and the three children moved to the Mr. W.G. Parish farm on the west side of the Buffalo Hills area where he attended Buffalo School. He later went to high school in Arrowwood, AB. Victor worked on farms in the summers and with his brother Norman, at the coal mines in Champion, AB during the winters to keep things going at home.
Victor married Elsie McInenly in 1938 and they stayed in the Arrowwood area until the spring of 1944 when the family moved to a farm at Blackie, AB. In the fall of that year they moved to the Corner Store and Service Station where they lived for many years. During those years Victor got his mechanic’s license and in 1952 the family moved into Vulcan where Victor followed his passion working as a mechanic.
In 1970, Victor and Elsie moved to Calgary where he continued to work in the automotive industry. Victor never really retired; he loved to help the kids and grandkids with all their endeavors. Once they reached retirement age, Victor and Elsie became very active with many seniors organizations in Calgary and still kept in touch with old friends in the County of Vulcan. Vic and Elsie enjoyed cards, dinners and pancake breakfasts but especially their dancing and music. Victor continued to enjoy dances at Forest Lawn Senior Centre, Forest Lawn Legion and Confederation Park until days before his passing.
Victor is survived by his children Frances (Don) Jeandron, Richard (Barbara) Earl, Albert (Dianna) Earl, Charlotte (Howard) Brinton, Gwen (Bill) Fox, Daughter-in-law Denise Earl and Carl (Pat) Earl, 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandsons. He is also survived by one sister, Violet Ginn; two sisters-in-law Gene McInenly and Elsie Earl, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Victor was predeceased by his loving wife Elsie in 2006 after 68 years of marriage, by his eldest daughter Irene McFadden in 2000 and her husband Jack McFadden in 2007, son Gordon Earl in 2008; grandsons Kevin Fox in 1991 and Will Bier in 2011 and his brother Norman Earl in 1987.
Funeral Service will be held at Vulcan United Church in Vulcan, AB on Monday, January 27th, 2014 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Gordon Cranch officiating.
Interment to follow at Vulcan Cemetery.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of a very nice man. We only knew him for a short time but were so impressed with how he never forgot who you were. We know he will be deeply missed. Our deepest sympathies to all the family.
