MUELLER, Allen Adam 1948 – 2013

Allen Adam Mueller
Dec 9, 1948 – Oct 24, 2013

With great sorrow the families of Allen Mueller announce his passing after pancreatic cancer had taken him from us all too early, at the age of 64.

Allen was born the second child to Bernard and Rita in Vulcan, Alberta.  He is survived by his wife Brenda, his brothers Gerald, Keith and Kenneth.  His sons Laine, Bradley, Wesley and daughter Janell, as well his grandchildren Kaley, Mason, Rhys, Jasmine, Jorja, Dakota, Grayson, Linden and Alexandrea.

Allen spent his early years in the farming community with his brothers around the Champion and Vulcan area before attending the University of Calgary and Edmonton in the civil engineering field.  The farm life could not escape him and continued farming after falling in love with his wife Brenda in Vulcan in 1970.  They began a beautiful family and opportunities took them north to the Two Hills and Vegreville area.  It was at this time Allen began his career with Alberta Power and would last over 25 years into his retirement.  This took he and his family on adventures across western Canada to locales such as Whitehorse, Drumheller, Fort McMurray, Yellowknife, Slave Lake, Sundre and ultimately back to his final destination back close to where it all began, Nanton.

Along the way he always had time for a friendly hello and genuinely cared about all he met.  He was involved in many volunteer programs and was a tireless community supporter.  His family was his life and found himself several times a week in a community hockey rink supporting all his children and helping where he could.  He would say his greatest achievements were his children and was very proud of them all no matter what.

Anyone who was fortunate enough to meet Allen knew that one of his greatest attributes was that of unselfish caring and his ‘can I do anything to help’ attitude.  When he did find time for himself you could find him in the garden, planting and watching things grow, building or fixing things in his shop, or in the outdoors camping and fishing.

Celebration of Life was held Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 1:30 pm at Vulcan United Church. Inurnment at Champion Cemetery.

Allen’s family would like to extend sincere thanks to all the wonderful people that helped in this trying time including family and friends, doctors and medical staff and everyone involved to make his passing as comfortable as possible.  If desired, In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a tree be planted in Allen’s memory.

Arrangements in care of Vulcan Funeral Home.  Telephone 1-403-485-2633. E-mail condolences through www.vulcanfuneralhome.ca.

Dear Brenda & Family, My thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. Unable to attend Al’s service but am remembering him as the kind and gentle man he was years ago in high School. Have seen you very seldom since those days. Your children and grandchildren will bring you comfort. Most Sincerely, Kate Ireland (McNiven-Atkinson)

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I hope you are feeling okay. Morgan Mudge, do you remember James from two years ago? We talked a lot of skype. We met on Christmas Eve, and I remember staying up until dawn talking to you until dawn that night. I guess I don’t remember you that well, just you’re name and personality and that you were awesome. Whether or not you remember me, please e-mail me at Greenpoe@gmail.com
