Charlotte Agnes Amelia West (nee: Clark), of Lomond passed away on Tuesday January 21, 2003 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on her 87 birthday.
Charlotte was born on January 21, 1916 at Lomond, Alberta the eldest daughter of Harry and Hester Clark. At two years of age she moved with her family to Winnipeg, Manitoba where her father was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway. As a child she took piano lessons and enjoyed playing the piano. She attended school in Winnipeg and obtained her high school diploma. From 1940 to 1944 she worked for the Eaton’s Department Store. On June 24, 1944 Charlotte married John (Jack) West in a small ceremony at her family home in Winnipeg. Following their union she moved to Lomond where they first resided on the farm north of town. Charlotte was instrumental with the running of the mixed farming operation including raising registered Hereford cattle. In 1982 they sold the farm and retired to the town of Lomond.
Charlotte loved her family and enjoyed sharing time with them. She was an exceptional cook and homemaker and shared her talents with her family, neighbors and friends, appreciating all of their visits and games of canasta and bingo. She also enjoyed curling, handicrafts, knitting and group quilting with her friends. After retirement Charlotte and Jack enjoyed their cruises and travels to the Carribean, Hawaii, Tahiti, Alaska, England, from coast to coast in Canada and extensively in the U.S.A.
Beloved wife of Jack West of Lomond, a sister Pat (Ross) Campbell of Edmonton, a brother Robert Clark of Ajax, Ontario, two sisters-in-law Ivy Goldthorpe of Lomond, Yvonne West of Vulcan, three brothers-in-law Albert (Helen) West of Lomond, Robert Armstrong of Nanaimo, B.C., Bob Bradshaw of Duncan, B.C., numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Charlotte was predeceased by two sisters Barbara Armstrong, Bernice Bradshaw, a sister-in-law Ruth Clark, a brother-in-law Herbert West, and her parents.
Funeral Service Saturday January 25, 2003 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Lomond at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Ed Summers officiating.
