Agnes Lenz of Coaldale passed away suddenly in her home on Sunday March 28th at the age of 77 years.

Agnes was born May 10th, 1926 in Neuendorf, Ukraine to Jacob and Anna Siemens. In 1930 her father, a preacher was arrested and taken away from the family. At the age of four along with her mother and siblings were exiled to the small town of Blumengart. After her first seven years of schooling, Agnes enrolled in the Schőnwieser High School. Following the death of her mother in July of 1943, Agnes, her sisters and their children left Russia in October of the same year. Leaving Russia as refugees, they fled the Russian army for some time and in 1945 they settled in Soest, Westfalen where they found food and lodging on a homestead. On June 9th, 1946 Agnes was baptized by Elder Heinrich Winter in Eichholz. While residing in Westfalen, she met Otto Lenz, and in 1948, they got engaged, just prior to emigrating to Canada. On January 1st, 1949 Agnes and her sisters moved to Coaldale after a short stay in Manitoba. Her fiancé moved to Coaldale on April 1st, 1951 and on the 15th of April they were married. Agnes and Otto joined the Coaldale Conference Mennonite Church that same year, which enriched their lives both spiritually and emotionally. Following their union Agnes worked at home as a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She worked at the Coaldale Lodge for many years.  On November 20th, 1992 Otto passed away  and Agnes continued to reside in Coaldale, with the loving support of her family and friends until her passing.

Agnes loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending quality time with each and every one of them. She also enjoyed watching game shows, reading German novels and her daily card games.

Loving mother of a daughter Rose (Pat) Wisener of Vulcan, two sons Otto (Carol) Lenz of Coaldale, Marvin (Jodi) Lenz of Chilliwack, B.C., seven grandchildren David, Jaime, and Stefan Lenz,  Krista and Neil Wisener, Mason and Mackenzie Lenz, two sisters Tina Willms of Coaldale, Margaret (Gordon) Lott of Kingston, Ontario, brother Henry (Doris) Siemens of Kitchener, Ontario, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Agnes was predeceased by her husband Otto, three sisters Maria Krahn, Anna Derksen, Lena Peters, three brothers Henry, Jacob, Aron and her parents.

Funeral service on Saturday April 3rd, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at the Coaldale Mennonite Conference Church, with Rev. Roy Nickel and Pastor Peter Funk co-officiating.

Honorary Bearers Jaime Lenz, Stefan Lenz, Mason Lenz, Mackenzie Lenz, Jared Kraus and Tyler Kraus.

Casket bearers Neil Wisener, David Lenz, Henry Krahn, Alfred Klassen, Peter Kraus and Harry Penner.

Internment Coaldale Cemetery.
