Margaret Dow formerly of Champion, Alberta passed away peacefully at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 86 years.
Margaret was born on November 22, 1919 at Medicine Hat, Alberta to Percy and Cecile Gatenby. She attended school in Medicine Hat and Winnifred, Alberta. The family moved to Champion in 1931 and Margaret continued her schooling at Champion. Margaret married Douglas Dow in 1942. She loved being a farmer’s wife. Margaret loved the quiet life on the farm, working in her vegetable garden and raising chickens and turkeys.
Margaret loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member in the Champion and then Vulcan Order of the Eastern Star. Margaret also belonged to the Past Matron Club of the O.E.S. She was a member of Ladies Aid of the United Church, Champion Ladies Curling Club and the Pioneer Club and Drop in Centre, Margaret enjoyed many afternoons doing crafts at the Champion Drop In Centre and attending monthly Pioneer suppers. She traveled may times to Hawaii and could never resist a stop at the Pearl Factory to “fish” for pearls.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Hazel of Champion and son Don (Sue) of Vulcan, three grandchildren Cindy (Scott) Pupp, Christie (Paul) Sorensen and Ali (Brent Keyes), five great grandchildren, a brother Ken (Shirley) Gatenby of Vulcan and a sister Gloria Rupp of Champion, numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Douglas in 1975, her son Roy in 1964, a brother Bill in 2004 and her parents.
Funeral Service Thursday December 15, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Vulcan United Church with Sue MacDonald D.M. officiating.
Interment at Archmount Memorial Gardens, Lethbridge at 2:30 P.M.

Casket Bearers Scott Pupp, Paul Sorensen, Brent Keyes, Gordon Rupp, Jim Rupp and Allan Gatenby.
