Ida May Burnett passed away peacefully at the Peter Dawson Lodge November 6, 2005 at the age of 84 years.

Ida May was born July 23, 1921 at Cove, Oregon the oldest daughter of George and Eva Williams.  They arrived in Arrowwood in 1927. Ida May attended Shouldice, Arrowwood and Calgary Normal Schools graduating in 1941. She began teaching in Greenacres near Carstairs where she boarded with Percy and Grace Stull. The following year Ida May taught at Lathom near Bassano and joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in February 1943. She took rheumatic fever and was discharged in August on the same year.  In December 1943 Ida May married Lorne Henry who ran her father’s International Harvester business in Arrowwood.  In 1951 they moved to Tilly, Alberta and returned to Arrowwood the following year. In 1952 they moved to Vulcan where they resided until Lorne passed away in 1963. Ida May and the girls moved to Clarkston, Washington the same year. In 1966 she married W. G. Burnett.  They resided at many Idaho locations moving to Lewiston in 1974 where Ida May worked at an Insurance Agency.  George passed away in 1978 and Ida May returned to Vulcan in 1982 to the Wheat Country Homes and later in to the Peter Dawson Lodge where she has resided until her passing.

Ida May was active in the community as a member of the Vulcan United Church where she served as the Sunday School Superintendent, United Church Women, U.F.W.A  and also served on the Village Council. She loved her family, as well as many children in the community and kept in close touch with all her family and friends. Ida May enjoyed needle work and quilting.

Ida May is survived by her two daughters and their husbands Carolyn (Alan) Lind of Buck Creek and Delores (Don) Millington of Clarkston, Washington, four grandchildren Carl, Anna, Ron and Lorna, six great grandchildren Sebastian, Melody, Amber, Dakota, Chantal and Kabrel, a bother Orville (Doris) Williams of Arnold, California and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ida may was predeceased by her first husband Lorne Henry in 1963, second husband George Burnett in 1978, a sister Rita Faye and her parents.

Memorial service will be held Thursday November 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Vulcan with Sue MacDonald D.M. officiating.
