Alvin George “Hap” Heather, beloved husband of Ethel of Milo, Alberta  passed away October 24, 2005 at Strathmore Hospital at the age of 80 years.

Hap was born December 4, 1924 at Bassano, Alberta to George and Tillie Heather and was brought home in a sleigh across the Bow River at Bassano.  He attended Rocky Butte School for Grades 1-9.  Hap then went to live in Milo to attend Milo High School.  He finished high school in Cluny, graduating in 1942.  In the spring of 1943 Hap enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy.  He worked on a corvette ship that accompanied convoys of merchant ships overseas.  He was in port at Halifax on V Day.  In 1946 Hap started farming.  On July 24, 1948 Hap married Ethel Clements.  In 1994 he and Ethel  retired from farming and moved into Milo.  He loved the land and his cows and appreciated all of nature around him.  In December 2004 Hap moved into the Wheatland Lodge in Strathmore and had resided there until his passing.

Hap was a member of the Milo Lions Club, a past member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, a Legion member of the Queenstown branch, a Milo Curling Club member and a member on the Lutheran Church Board.  He loved curling, hunting big game and birds in his younger years and bowling was his sport after retiring.  He liked to attend hockey games.  Hap especially enjoyed the times spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren

Beloved husband of Ethel, loving father of two daughters Terry Heather of Strathmore, Brenda (Len) Orlita of Brooks, a son Warren (Penny) of Milo, five grandchildren, Dan (Kelly) Westgard, Brittany and Tate Orlita, Russel, Deanna and Tracy Heather, two great grandchilden Jase and Tori Westgard, four sisters Donna (Don) Gordon of Calgary, Joanne (Alan) Chambers of Lomond, Harriet (Lloyd) Jacobson of Lethbridge, May (Damien) Corbiel of Strathmore and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hap was predeceased by his parents and his brother Jack (Margaret).

Funeral service Friday, October 28, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at the Milo Community Hall, Main Street, Milo, Alberta with Rev. Ed Summers officiating.

Honorary bearers Lloyd Armstrong, David Deitz, Colin Campbell, Ian Thomson, James Will, Bob Deitz, Larry Umscheid and Gordon Gore.

Casket bearers Sonny Vannatta, Allan Bartsch, Jim Heather, John Ivers, Keith Deitz, and Ed Posein.

Internment O’Perfect Peace Cemetery, Milo, Alberta.
