Annie Bell Anderson (nee Mellow) of Vulcan, Alberta passed away July 24, 2006 at Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 102 years.
Annie was born November 26, 1905 at Essex County, Ontario to William and Mary Mellow. The family moved to Alberta and Annie attended school at Turin. In 1933 she married Bill Anderson. They moved to Champion in 1952 and bought a farm. In 1959 they sold the farm and bought land at Vulcan. Annie and Bill retired in 1971 and moved into town. Bill passed away in 1986 and Annie moved into the Peter Dawson Lodge in 1997. In October, 2005 she moved into Vulcan Extendicare.
Annie really enjoyed listening to music and was gifted musically. She could play the piano by ear. She was always active, did a lot of gardening and was an excellent cook. Annie had a full life and was blessed by being able to live and enjoy her friends at the Peter Dawson Lodge until just before her 102nd birthday. Her keen sense of humor kept all in wonderment. She had a special love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and in following their development and interests. She will be lovingly missed by all who knew her.
Annie is survived by her loving family, son Wayne (Gerrie) of Vulcan, grandchildren Kim (Kevin) Booth of Milo, Sheldon (Leanne) Anderson of Vulcan, great grandchildren Kylee, Larissa, Kaden and Brogan Booth, Taylor and Sarah Anderson, two nieces Vera Ryall of Camrose, Lorna (Peter) Reurink of Turin, a nephew Merton (Sharyn) Mellow of Turin, a sister-in-law Doris Jensen of Lethbridge and many other relatives and dear friends.
Annie was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1996, son Arvin in 1958, her parents Mary and William Mellow, a sister Lela Peters, a brother Archie Mellow and a niece Thelma Boyson.
Celebration of Life service was held Monday, July 31, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints, Champion with Bishop Ted Findlay officiating.
Honorary bearers were Marguerite Glowa, Laurie Lyckman, Margaret Kerr, Brenda McDonald, Theresa McColoman, Maria Lever, Lola Findlay, Ruth Fownes and Beverly Howe.
Casket bearers were Sheldon Anderson, Taylor Anderson, Kevin Booth, Stan Howe, Merton Mellow and Peter Reurink.
Interment Archmount Memorial Gardens, Lethbridge at 2:30 p.m..
