Reta Beatrice Long (nee Beaubier) passed away peacefully on May 8, 2006, at the age of 99 years.

Reta was born on April 30, 1907 at Hoytville, Michigan, USA and moved to Alberta in November 1907.  She moved to the Champion district where she met and married John Long and raised their family.  In the 50’s they decided to leave the cold of Alberta and began traveling to Mesa, Arizona, They traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada.  Reta moved to Calgary in 1981 where she resided until her passing.

Reta was a member of the Champion Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron, Champion Felicity Club, Alberta Flying Farmers and founded the Alberta-Saskatchewan Wally Byam Airstream Caravan Club.

For Reta, her family was always the most important part of her life and she was happiest when she spent time with them.  She always remember family birthdays.
Reta had many interests which included needlepoint, sewing and reading.

Loving mother of a daughter Yvonne (Don) Charleson of Billings, Montana, a son Glenn (Doris) of Calgary, twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and five great great grandchilden as well as other family and friends.

Reta was predeceased by her husband John in 1978 and twin Robert and John “Jack”.

Memorial service Friday, May 12, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the Champion Community Hall, with Sue MacDonald D.M. officiating.

Honorary bearers Robert Long, Randy Long, Gary Long, Don Charleson, David Charleson and Bradley Charleson.
