Holm, Theodore “Ted” passed away peacefully on February 21, 2008 at Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 92 years.
Ted was born on June 13, 1915 at Champion, Alberta to Peter and Edna Holm. He received all his schooling at Champion and helped on the family farm. When he finished his schooling, Ted went to work for the municipality driving a grader. During the war years he operated heavy equipment at the Vulcan Airport and then at the airport at Fort St. John. Ted was also musical and played saxophone in a local band. Ted married Doreen Stewart on June 18, 1947 at Calgary. They resided on the family farm and raised their family. Also many animals were a part of their lives on the farm. When they retired, Doreen and Ted moved into Champion and Ted kept himself busy doing crafts. In May, 2007, Ted went to Vulcan Extendicare where he resided until his passing.
Ted was an excellent mechanic and spent many hours inventing things to help out on the farm. He was involved from the start with the development of Little Bow Provincial Park. Ted enjoyed curling, camping and fishing. He was a long time member of the Masons, the Shriners and the Champion Lions Club. Ted also enjoyed helping out when needed and helped in the building of the Champion Drop-in Centre.
Lovingly remembered by his wife Doreen, his children Lynda (Byron) Smith, Michael (Cheryl) Holm, Robert (Valerie) Holm, six grandchildren Eryn Smith, Cory (Amanda) Smith, James (Sharon) Holm, Perry Holm, Jackson Holm, Jennifer Holm, four great grandchildren Nicholas, Darby Lynn, Megan and Austin, sister Helen Sanderson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted was predeceased by a grandson Bradley Holm, sister Agnes (Art) Hall, brother-in-law Jack Sanderson, two nephews Jimmy Hall and Peter Sanderson and his parents.
A Celebration of Life service was held on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the Champion Community Hall with Sue MacDonald D.M. officiating.
