Ed was predeceased by his parents, three brothers Leslie (Bertha), Lloyd (Cora) and Lee, sister Lorna (Joe) Gerding and brother-in-law Archie (Bertie) Oldfield.
Ed was born on November 25, 1916 at the farm in the Mayview district, the youngest of five children. His mother died when he was six years old and he father when Ed was 22. He and his sister Lorna and brother Lee lived in the Richardson home for a year until his marriage to Margaret Oldfield on May 27, 1939. They moved a house onto the same property until August of 1946 and then they moved it once again to the land he owned one and a half miles south.
Ed and Margaret lived on the farm in the Mayview Berrywater area for about fifty-eight years except for a brief time they spent at Duncan, BC working at a sawmill. Ed, Margaret and Helen had lots of special memories living at the coast. Later on they enjoyed many years traveling in their RV with family and friends in Canada and the States.
In 1998 they made the big change and moved to Vulcan, first in their home and then to Peter Dawson Lodge. Ed was moved to the Vulcan Community Health Centre last January and remained there until the time of his passing.
A celebration of his life was held on Friday, February 1, 2008 at Vulcan United Church at 1:30 p.m. with Sue MacDonald officiating.
