Schierman, Ruby Ella, beloved wife of the late David Schierman, entered Heavens Glory July 1, 2009 at Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 86 years.
Ruby was born on August 17, 1922 at Bruce, Alberta to Michael and Pauline Grinde. She attended West Bruce School then went onto Edmonton Normal School to become a teacher. Because of the shortage of teachers during the war, Ruby taught from January to April at a school near Barrhead. She then returned to Edmonton to finish her training. Ruby taught for three years at Bruce, Alberta and in 1946 moved to southern Alberta to teach at the Reid Hill School. On July 29, 1947 she married David Schierman in Wetaskiwin, moved into Vulcan and taught at the Red Cross School. In 1948 Ruby began teaching at the Cottage School in Vulcan with Hazel Cameron.
Ruby was a life long member and strong supporter of the Vulcan Evangelical Missionary Church. She enjoyed and played clarinet with the Vulcan County Band. Ruby loved to travel and her most moving experience was her trip to the Holy Land. She was a gracious and generous hostess. Ruby loved flowers, gardening, pets and was also an avid Edmonton Eskimos and Oilers fan
Loving mother of daughter Eunice (Ken) Munton of Vulcan, son Michael (Suedale) of Alamo, California, foster son Lyle (Tosha) Bow of Vulcan, ten grandchildren Jared (Jennifer) Munton, Allison (Damian) Bolton, Barret and Bryant Munton all of Calgary, Mathew and Michaela Schierman of Alamo, California, Kyle, Shyra , Justise and Navada Bow of Vulcan, two great granddaughters Melanie and Abigail Munton of Calgary, special friends Earl and Mary Gregory and numerous brothers and sisters-inlaw, nieces and nephews.
Ruby is predeceased by her husband David in 2002 and her parents.
Funeral service Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Vulcan Evangelical Missionary Church with Jim Stelter officiating.
Casket bearers Jared Munton, Barret Munton, Byrant Munton, Doug Grinde, David Grinde and Mathew Schierman.
Interment Vulcan Cemetery.
