Rollin (Ron) John Buehler passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26th, 2011 at the age of 100 years. Ron was born in Big Stone, Alberta on July 30th, 1911. Homesteading was a tough life and in 1919 they moved for short stays in Olds and Gleichen before the family settled in Calgary. Ron later moved to Vulcan in 1929 where he apprenticed as an electrician with his brother, Don.
In 1934 Ron married his life partner, Bernice, who predeceased Ron in 1996. They raised their two children, Ralph (deceased in 1983) and Sharon. Bernice and Ron operated Vulcan Electric for close to 45 years before retiring in 1977. In his free time Ron could usually be found at the golf course where he not only logged a lot of hours golfing but was involved for years on the club’s board. Ron was a long term Lions Club member and he really enjoyed the Lions Club members who helped him celebrate his 100th birthday this July 30th with a very special birthday cake.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Sharon, grandchildren Wendy, Judy, Terri, Greg and Shelly and his great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at the Vulcan Golf Course Club House on Tuesday, September 6th. at 1:00 P.M.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Vulcan Extendicare for the wonderful care and compassion that they had always given to Ron.
