Gordon George “Jordy” Petronech of Champion, Alberta passed away May 17, 2011 in Calgary at the age of 67 years.
Gordon was born December 9, 1943 in Coaldale, Alberta to Gordon and Betty Petronech. He attended school in Coaldale and Champion. Once he moved to the farm at Champion, Gordon knew that was where he always wanted to be.
Following his leg surgery and the loss of his father, he carried on farming. Gordon married Maxine in 1978 and they raised their family in Champion. He was very community minded and was always helping or doing projects to assist his neighbours and improve the quality of small town life. While continuing to farm, Jordy was also an Entrepreneur. In the mid 1970’s he was the developer and co-owner of Big Country Sports in Calgary. In the early 1980’s he started Jorko Trucking and continued that business until selling all the equipment in 1993. In his free time, he enjoyed watching all sports and yelling at the TV. He was also an avid reader of history and enjoyed following current events. Before and after retirement, Jordy and Maxine looked forward to their excursions in their motorhome with many shared laughs.
Beloved husband of Maxine and beloved father of Krista (Stacy) Robichaud, their children Michael and Madelene; Scott (Patty), their children Grant and Kelly; son-in-law Greg Kasko; sister Lesley Petronech and her children Niki Larson and Jody Larson (Chris); and his best buddy Lucky. Jordy was predeceased by his parents Gordon Sr (1965) and Betty (2004), his brother John (1970) and daughter Karen Kasko (2000).

Maxine; I had seen Jordy’s obituary in the paper a few weeks ago, and wanted to extend my condolences to you and your family. It’s almost 11 years since Karen passed away, but I still remember her with fondness and the good times we shared at Noble Central. May God’s peace be with you as you now mourn the loss of your husband.
Sincerely,
Sharon Vander Woude
